Many, many (sniff, sniff) many years ago — four and a half, to be exact — I shot this sweet little image of Anaya and her big brother. It’s still one of my favorite newborn images to date …
One of the reasons I love working with kids is that you never really know what you’re going to get. In that shot above, big brother wasn’t having any part of posed pictures: he wanted a nap. And so while he lay there quietly, Mom put little sister down with him and that’s how they lay for a bit while I happily snapped away : )
I haven’t seen this lovely family in some time since they moved up to NY. But low and behold … I live here now, too! So I was very, very delighted to meet up with them the other day at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. We sat down in the grass to get to know each other a bit … and well … they weren’t feeling it, lol …
But suddenly, the energy kicked in and we had an absolute blast wandering about the park and gardens. And can we just talk for one second about this adorable hair cut??! …
As we headed back to the car, big brother told me that he was going to add my name to his Love Garden. And my heart pretty much just exploded : )
