The box arrives. I rip it open … and then the ideas start flying at me. That’s what happens when designers send me clothes to photograph. For this particular line of clothes, three words kept coming to mind: fun, bright, and FUN! So, for the first location we used, I came up with an idea that was pretty awesome (if I do say so myself); however, the execution of this genius idea took about 5 years off my life (give or take a year). But that’s ok, because I think it was worth it! And actually, I still can’t believe we were granted permission to use the location. But the owners of the old amusement park said … sure, come on in. At 10:00. Now, if you know photography, you know that 10:00 in the morning is right about the time when the sun starts to get preeetty bright. And at 12:00, it’s BRIGHT. Often, a photographer will seek out shady areas. Well, this amusement park had NO shady areas. None. So, I prayed for clouds and cooler temperatures. We got NO clouds and it was about 144 degrees that day. Alright, I’m exaggerating. But only a little. With MUCH help from all the fabulous Moms, though, we were able to make it work, and we left the park a little sunburnt, but with some fabulous images.
We then moved onto a couple of other locations. How cute are these sisters?? …
Don’t you just want to eat her cheeks?! …
We got yelled at for using this alley … (although, I didn’t care. And I’ve used it again, too. So, there!)
And yet another fabulous location in NJ …
And we’ll end the post with Mr. Rockstar, himself …

Was this done recently? If so, I can’t believe how well the kids did with it being SO cold out and being half naked. Bravo to all the kids and parents involved. And of course, Kate, you deserve some credit too =)
Nope, Jess. This was done in the summer. It was suuuuuuuper hot. Suuuuper hot : )
Hot was an understatement. But you would have never known it by how good the kids were. I think it was harder on the moms then the kids.
Love these! You definitely captured fun and bright and although it was verrrry hot, i’d take a day of that right about now!
