I didn’t get to share too many photos on the blog over the fall … it was just a little too busy. So now that it’s winter … and I’m literally stuck in the house today due to icy roads, lol … it’s time to start catching up a bit.
Of course, my goal for every photo session is to capture a few shots of everyone smiling at the camera. I think those pictures are important to have. I know that having a more traditional shot of the whole family smiling is usually a goal that families come to me with. Buuuut, I also know that the photographs that Moms later tell me are their favorites from a family photo session are the ones where I’ve caught “those looks”. The looks that your child has been making recently … but probably will stop making in the very near future (kids are funny like that! They go little stages with faces they make). Or maybe they’ll make the face forever … but it will still change over the years. It’s special when we can really capture who people are … right now. And I think we really got that with this session. And that makes me happy : )
That photo with the cake pop? Right as my shutter clicked, this little cutie’s Momma exclaimed … “you got it! This is SO Rita right now!” So I felt like … mission accomplished. And I left the session happy : )
And then I got a little sad inside because I remember this peanut as a newborn. And when she was 6 months old and we had THE MOST AMAZING photo shoot at Longwood Gardens. And then when we photographed her on a crazy warm day in March when she turned one year old. (Complete with a fabulous cake smash!) Time flies … and I feel that little twinge of sadness when I see little ones grow up right before my lens. And they’re not even my little ones! But I still feel it.
