This was October — Hudson Valley Photographer

This was October. What a beautiful month!

I didn’t make a September video. I had already filmed lots of clips of the lovely things around me when I lost my GoPro in the ocean. Lately I’ve been shooting about half my clips with my DSLR and the other half with the GoPro for this monthly gratitude project. Even though I still had a few weeks to film, I felt like my desire to film and edit had also washed away with my camera.

October began, and with it … no desire to film. I knew I would have to force myself to get started again. But I just couldn’t make it happen.

So … I decided to go ahead and buy a drone. I’ve wanted one for a really long time! And I knew that if I had something new to add to this project, it would help kickstart my creativity again. Just the simple act of hitting the “buy” button worked! I felt rejuvenated and started filming my little clips of gratitude.

The drone arrived … and with it an unexpected fear of flying. And so it sat in it’s box until October 30 when I told myself it HAD to come out and I HAD to learn how to get it up in the air.

And so I did. The fact that there were even a few clips to add to this video makes me happy. But mostly, I’m excited for what’s to come : )

These are just a few of the little moments that I’m thankful for this month.
