The bulk of my closet comes from thrift stores, Forever 21 (hey, the word “forever” is in the title, right?), and any sale rack that gets the numbers down to single digits. But every now and again, I’ll walk past a designer-brand store window and see something that makes me absolutely drool. Oh, it’s beautiful. Oh, I want it. And OH! It’s the same amount of money as my monthly grocery bill.
The most beautiful dress in all the land??
Or Food?
Dress?
Food?
I mean, since I won’t be eating, maybe I could even buy a size smaller.
And so I walk away from the dress, feeling like I’ll never be the same.
That’s why I absolutely LOVE it when designers put out their new line and it’s filled with things that are so, well, awful, that I don’t have to feel bad. I was reading a magazine this morning with breakfast and I actually spit out my cashew butter toast right onto the furry mess before me.
Everybody needs a good chuckle. So let’s take a look at the Celine 2013 line.
First up … the toe shoes. Not enough time to paint your own toe nails? No problem. The work has already been done for you. Just put them on and go. (And to my 2013 brides … please don’t wear these. Please! I’ll pay for your pedicure if you won’t wear these on your wedding day!)
And then there are the much talked-about muppet shoes. Yes … grown women actually strutted down the runway wearing these fluffy (yet to be priced) shoes. And I bet that the most ironic part about them is that despite all the soft warm muppet fluff … they probably still hurt your feet.
Or, if you’d prefer some color-blocking and a wider, more comfortable heel … there’s the Elmo …
Or for those days when you do want to wear fur on your feet … but prefer the more casual look of a sandal …
People used to make fun of UGGS … and then they went main stream. So who knows … maybe Celine is onto something big here. Their shoes usually run for $600 to $800. That’s a lot of groceries … and a lot of cute shoes at Payless!
See … don’t you just feel smarter and more fashionable somehow knowing that there’s stuff like this out there … and you’re NOT wearing it!
