what’s going on these days? — hudson valley child photographer

My Don’t Be Negative shirt arrived and I’m so in love! Isn’t it cute?!

What am I doing designing tshirts? Honestly, I saw a shirt with a similar message from a popular store and it sold out. And I wanted one. Since I’m constantly in need of new challenges and artistic endeavors, I had this one made up and decided to sell it to anyone else who might want one, too! It was a fun process … so I made some other designs. I’m having SO much fun with it … I might just keep on going. We’ll see.

And then there’s my other blog … Bo+Belle. A few years back, I slapped it up onto the Web because I felt like I needed a virtual happy place. A place to go and just focus on personal growth and positivity. And a place to talk health, nutrition, DIY projects, and the other things I focus on in my own personal life. (I’m talking EXCITING stuff like the DIY deodorant recipe I shared today. Actually, I really am pretty excited about it! It’s so easy to make and super effective!) Over the years, it’s kind of evolved … and then sat neglected for months. And then, for a period of time, I was sharing mainly motivational articles for my fellow photographers. I discovered that I’m VERY passionate about that!! And hence, my book on confidence was born. I’m currently finishing up another ebook … 12 Reasons Your Photography Business is Failing. Doesn’t that sound terribly negative?! Well, it’s not. It’s just a good hard look at the common reasons people’s photo businesses fail and what to do about them.

It was probably inevitable that I would go back to writing at some point; after all, it was my first love and what I studied in college. But as I wrote more and more articles for photographers on Bo+Belle, I started to see that it was really turning that particular blog into something very specific. And so, I decided to start yet ANOTHER online space: dearfemalephotographer.com. That’s where the articles for photographers now lie. And it’s also home to the cute t-shirts! What will become of it? I don’t know. We’ll see.

As for photography, my hope is that I’ll be able to really put some time into my Life Lessons with Little People sessions here in the Hudson Valley. And eventually, I’ll travel to various other areas of the country, too to chat with little ones from different areas. For now, though, if you know a little one in the Hudson Valley, NY area that would be perfect for the project, please shoot their parents a link and let them know I’d love to hear from them. It’s a fun way to get some totally free photos : ) And of course, nothing makes me happier than continuing to work with my clients, capturing beautiful photos for their families. (Did you read my challenge yesterday?)

Finally … gulp … it’s almost fall. Which means … let the family sessions begin! If you haven’t booked a slot for a session in Delaware yet, I’ve only got about one or two left. I’m sorry : ( I wish I had more. But if I can’t work with you down there, you could always come up this way! Upstate NY is AMAZINGLY beautiful in the fall.

Last night I made up an Instagram account for BoandBelle … because, well, I don’t know. I just felt like I should. That officially makes three Instagram accounts as not too long ago I made one up for DearFemalePhotographer. I don’t quite have a plan in place for any of these efforts right now, I’m just letting things evolve organically as I try and figure it all out. Quite honestly, I feel a little overwhelmed with three separate accounts, so we’ll see what happens. Meanwhile, feel free to join me!
